Do you charge for parents to watch?
We do not charge for parents to watch during regular skating sessions. We’re happy you are here!
NOTE: Occasionally charitable organizations that host fundraisers will charge every person (adult or child) that is admitted.

If my friends are coming to skate, do I need to pay if I’m only going to hang out?
Everyone entering (with the exception of parents watching their children) must pay the applicable admission and skate rental fee.

Do you offer group rates?
Yes – we can accommodate groups of all sizes. Please call or email for more info.


What size skates do you rent?
Everything from juvenile size 7 to adult size 16.

Can I bring my own skates?
Of course – we just need to inspect them and make sure they will not damage our floor.

Can I wear my Heelys?
Sorry, because Heelys do not have wheels in the front and back and are not intended for “roller skating” they are not permitted.


What goes on at a public skating session?
Most sessions are set up with a variety of special skates: All-Skate, Backwards, Couples. During daytime or family-oriented sessions we also do the Hokey Pokey, play games and give prizes.

If my child doesn’t skate well, can I walk on the floor to assist him/her?
We allow you to walk on the beginners rink floor. During public skating sessions we only allow guests wearing skates to be on the main skating floor. We do have floor guards who make sure that everyone skates safely and has a good time on the floor.


What forms of payment do you allow?
We accept cash, as well as major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover).

Do you have an ATM?
No, we do not have an ATM.

Can I pay with a check?
Yes with Id.


Can we have my child’s birthday party at Peninsula Family Skating Center?
Absolutely! We have birthday parties for groups as large as 15 people. Please call or email us for more info.

Can I rent Peninsula Family Skating Center for a private event?
We offer private events on select days of the week. Please call or email us for more info.

How far in advance do I need to make party reservations?
We will do our best to handle your request. In general, session parties (birthday parties, end of season team parties, etc.) should be reserved at least 2 weeks in advance. Private parties tend to fill up quickly, so please plan ahead as much as possible.


Do you sell food?
Yes! We sell pizza (by the slice, or a whole pizza), hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, sno-cones, and feature Coke products.

Can I bring in food from the outside?
No. The only outside food we allow is a birthday cake during birthday parties.


Do you take requests for songs?
Yes. Our DJs will make every effort to get your favorite song on! (Please note: not all music is appropriate for all sessions. If you ask the DJ, he or she will tell you if we can play a song.)

Fun Shop/Skate Shop

What items do you sell in the Fun Shop?
We sell the hottest toys and candy at a price that won’t break your budget. Stop in and check out our glow toys, zipper bracelets, flash glasses, light-up pacifiers and other great things!

What items do you sell in the Skate Shop?
We sell skates, wheels and other equipment from Riedell, Vanilla, Sure-Grip and Chicago, among others.  Browse our catalogs to find the gear that works for you.

Summer Sessions

What hours are you open during the summer?
In addition to our regular hours, we offer Summer Matinees! Starting June 17, and ending August 22, we will be open weekdays from 10 am – 2 pm. Admission is $5.50 per person. Special rates are available for day care, summer camps and similar groups. Please contact the office at 757-599-4769 or email for more details.

Kids Skate Free

Do you participate in the Kids Skate Free program?
Absolutely! Kids Skate Free is a great program that allows children 12 under to skate for free! You must first register with Kids Skate Free so you can get the free admission coupons.  You will then receive an email each week that has a link to that week’s coupons.  Just print the coupons and bring them to one of the sessions listed on the coupon.
